Annie's Journey in the USCG

July 24, 2010

This blog was created for my beautiful baby girl, Annie who is about to leave on her long awaited journey into the United States Coast Guard.

It is with both sadness and joy that I am creating this blog so that family and friends can follow her journey.

Sadness because she is my baby girl and I will miss her terribly! Joy because I know this is something she has wanted to do with her life and I have no doubt that she will succeed! In fact, she will excel! Annie is a very determined young woman and when she sets her mind to do something, watch out. She strives for perfection and that will only enhance her performance and journey while in the USCG.

Phase 2............. Let's get going!!!

September 24, 2010

GOOD NEWS!!!! Received a brief phone call from Annie tonight. Although she is still on modified medical status, she was placed with Recruit Company Zulu 183 yesterday! She said she took the swim test (in lieu of the 1.5 run due to her injury) and passed so all of her physical fitness requirements have now been met. She said the new company took their mid-term exams and EVERYONE passed - they received some kind of pennant for doing so - I guess that is out of the norm.................

Her new Graduation date is now October 22, 2010. We are hoping for the next 4 1/2 weeks to be SMOOTH SAILING!!!!!!!! She has had a rough journey!

These are random photos I found on the USCG Family and Friends page. The parents of graduating recruits snap tons of photos and post them so that parents of active recruits can hopefully catch a small glimpse of their Coastie! Smiles, tears and laughter abound when you spot "your Baby!!" I'd been pouring over hundreds of photos in the wee hours of the morning when I hit next and up popped Annie's face!! Whoo Hoo!!

Good luck Annie! We love you!
