Annie's Journey in the USCG

This blog was created for my beautiful baby girl, Annie who is about to leave on her long awaited journey into the United States Coast Guard.

It is with both sadness and joy that I am creating this blog so that family and friends can follow her journey.

Sadness because she is my baby girl and I will miss her terribly! Joy because I know this is something she has wanted to do with her life and I have no doubt that she will succeed! In fact, she will excel! Annie is a very determined young woman and when she sets her mind to do something, watch out. She strives for perfection and that will only enhance her performance and journey while in the USCG.

Annie's first letter......................

August 9, 2010 (Monday)

We received Annie's first letter home today. She wrote it on August 1st, (her 5th day there) however, they did not allow the recruits to mail them until August 6th.

As expected, she was depressed, saying it was much harder than she anticipated - especially being away from home all alone. Annie has never liked yelling, so I'm sure that's tough on her.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her every moment and hope that she will realize that everything is done for a purpose - to make her a stronger individual. I pray that her time at Cape May will become a little easier for her. 5 1/2 weeks to go!
